Paver and cobblestone driveways, motor courts, aprons and Belgian block borders — on a base built for the weight of a car, pitched to drain away from the house and the garage.
Real projects, photographed on site — every one hand-set by Edgar’s crew.

A motor court is the first thing a guest sees and the last thing they remember. With The Design Commission, yours is drawn to scale before a stone is ordered — the drive, the court, the borders, the retaining walls and the fountain at its center.
A driveway carries cars, trucks and the occasional delivery. It is excavated far deeper than a patio, down to ground that won’t move.
Compacted aggregate in lifts — and concrete beneath every border — so the surface never ruts or spreads.
Belgian block borders are set in concrete before the field, so the edges hold their line under every tire.
Pavers or granite cobble, laid to pattern, compacted and locked with joint sand or mortar.
Pitched to drains or the street — never toward the garage or the foundation.
Compare every stone in The Stone Library.
Pavers give a consistent, refined field at a lower cost; granite cobble is heavier, older-looking and nearly indestructible. Many motor courts use both — a paver field framed in cobble.
Yes — borders, aprons and repairs to existing borders are some of our most requested work.
Work in the public right-of-way — usually the apron at the street — generally needs a county or VDOT permit. Edgar tells you on the site visit.
On the right base, yes. Use a plow with a rubber edge, and sand or calcium magnesium acetate instead of rock salt.
